EN After the first analysis of the Program and the Site, it is clear that the proposed envelope makes the intervention too massive, removing the potential for relating to the views for the creation of generous outdoor spaces.

What to do in the face of these limitations? The first step was to create a design rule that allowed us to manipulate the program and shape of the building. The Tchokwe drawings were an important reference, as they harmoniously combine rigid structures with organic geometries.

Within the geometric rule created, around 6x6x6m modules (allowing the creation of duplex typologies), we began to redistribute the program, especially in order to guarantee better orientation for the views; the Bay of Luanda for the Hotel, and the Atlantic Ocean for the homes.

Now we are free to experiment. We created balconies, terraces, crossings, and even a marina, taking advantage of the building’s extension towards the view. This will be a compromise between a smaller volume and the possibility of direct contact between the building and the sea.

O primeiro passo foi criar uma regra de desenho que nos permitisse manipular o pro­grama e a forma do edifício. Os desenhos Tchokwe foram uma importante referência, pois cruzam de forma harmoniosa estruturas rigídas com geometrias orgânicas.

Dentro da regra geométrica criada, em torno de módulos de 6x6x6m (per­mitindo criar tipologias duplex), começamos a redistribuir o programa, sobretudo no sentido de garan­tir uma melhor orientação para as vistas; a Baía de Luanda para o Hotel, e o Oceano Atlântico para as habitações.

Agora somos livres para experimentar. Criamos varandas, terraços, atravessamentos, e até uma marina, tirando partido da extensão do edifício em direcção à vista. Este será um compro­misso entre uma menor volumetria e a possibilidade de contacto directo do edifício com o Mar.
