EN the exhibition presents notable cases of interior architecture in portugal in the 20th century.

Within a single volume, with precise limits within the museum space, 20 rooms are created, with archetypal geometry and made of wood. A continuous cut across all of them will open them up to the exhibition route, whilst maintaining a clear definition of a limit between the space and the observer.

Just the passing of a visitor in front of each room will trigger the start of the performance; At that moment, a projection begins, transforming the surfaces of the room into a geographic, historical, spatial or social framework for the objects and materials integrated into it.

The way in which the number and rhythm of visitors on the exhibition route turns the various rooms on and off will generate a variable dynamic in the way the exhibition is experienced and revealed to each person. The presence of other visitors, visible only through the light on in the following rooms, allows for a personal distance to be managed that creates the feeling of close but distant observation at the same time.

Rounding the corner of the entrance hall, the entire exhibition route is revealed to us, resulting from the free space of the confrontation between the intervention and the existing building, highlighting its scale through the rhythm imposed by the windows that run along the façade planes.

The route unfolds throughout the room, in a linked distribution of the ten decades of the 20th century to be illustrated, with two niches for each decade/core.

Dentro de um único volume, de limites precisos dentro do espaço do museu, criam-se 20 salas, de geometria arquétipa e executadas em madeira. Um corte, contínuo a todas, irá abri-las ao percurso expositivo mantendo, no entanto, a definição clara de um limite entre o espaço e o observadorApenas a passagem de um visitante defronte cada sala, irá despoletar o início da encenação; nesse momento uma projecção inicia-se, transformando as superfícies da sala num enquadramento geográfico, histórico, espacial ou social dos objectos e materiais nela integrados.

O modo como o número e ritmo dos visitantes no percurso expositivo acendem e apagam as várias salas, irá gerar uma dinâmica variável no modo como a exposição é vivida e revelada a cada um. A presença dos outros visitantes, visível apenas pela luz acesa nas salas seguintes, permite gerir uma distância pessoal que cria a sensação de observação próxima mas distante ao mesmo tempo.

Ao dobrar da esquina do átrio de entrada, revela-se-nos o todo do percurso expositivo, resultante do espaço livre do confronto entre a intervenção e o edifício existente, fazendo sobressair a sua escala pelo ritmo imposto pelas janelas que percorrem os planos de fachada.

O percurso desenvolve-se ao longo da sala, numa distribuição encadeada das dez décadas do século XX a ilustrar, com dois nichos para cada década/núcleo.
