EN The design of this single-family house is conditioned by the complexity of its surroundings, the integration of the plot into an uncharacteristic allotment and, above all, the aggressive presence of a large building to the east. There is only a tenuous relationship with the distant sea.

The “escape” from this close reality became the starting point for the resolution of this project, not only because of the obvious need to protect the plot’s privacy but also because it did not “offer” a starting point, as it was a relatively banal lot in terms of its morphology, its limits or its relations with the surroundings. Through a very expressive modeling of the terrain, an effective interiorization of the lot was achieved in relation to the surroundings, and of the house in relation to the lot, defining a hierarchy of interior/exterior and public/private spaces. This modeling stratifies the lot into two levels with a difference of two meters between them.

The highest level, which also rises in relation to the boundary of the lot and through which access to its interior is made, will define a podium (which replaces the planned wall) through which the main entrance to the house is made. This podium assumes a tectonic character, and a stony materiality, which is assumed as a protective space for the lower level. On the lower level, the decomposition of the podium will define the most public areas of the house, assuming its tectonic character in the way it receives and supports the volume that rests on it, defining the private areas of rooms and suites. This relationship between the foundation that decomposes and the volume that rests on it, defines space, form and function, in an interrelationship that will coherently resolve the entire project.

PT O projeto desta habitação unifamiliar desenvolve-se a partir da leitura da complexidade da sua envolvente, pela integração do lote num loteamento incaracterístico e, sobretudo pela presença agressiva de um grande edifício a nascente.  Sobra relação ténue com o mar distante.

O “fugir” desta realidade próxima, tornou-se o ponto de partida para a resolução deste projeto, não só pela necessidade óbvia de proteger a vevência do lote, como também pelo facto de o terreno não “oferecer” um ponto de partida, uma vez que se trata de um lote relativamente banal no que respeita á sua morfologia, aos seus limites ou às suas relações com a envolvente.

Através de uma modelação bastante expressiva do terreno, conseguiu-se uma interiorização efetiva do lote em relação à envolvente, e da habitação em relação ao lote, definindo-se uma hierarquia de espaços interior/exterior e público/privado. Esta modelação estratifica o lote em dois níveis com um desnível de dois metros entre si.

O nível mais elevado, que se eleva também em relação ao limite do lote e pelo qual se fazem os acessos ao seu interior irá definir um pódio (que se substitui ao muro previsto) através do qual se faz a entrada principal na habitação. Este pódio, assume um carácter tectónico, e uma materialidade pétrea, que se assume como um espaço de proteção do nível inferior.

No nível inferior, a decomposição do pódio, irá definir as áreas mais públicas da casa, assumindo ainda o seu carácter tectónico no modo como recebe e sustenta o volume que sobre ele assenta, definindo as áreas privadas de quartos e suítes.

Esta relação entre o embasamento que se decompõe e o volume que sobre ele pousa, define espaço, forma e função, numa inter-relação que resolverá coerentemente todo o projeto.
